Hmmmm yes the customer wants the product

My market segment is people who bought valentine’s day cards aged 18-21.
1.      My first interview was for my friend who bought his girlfriend a card and some chocolates on valentine’s day. He bought the card at a Publix with some chocolates and a balloon and surprised her with them, much to her joy. I asked his what he thought of my idea and he mentioned how he thinks it would help on peak seasons because in the last minute he was having trouble finding the right card after everyone bought most of the other cards. Having a customizable card that uses the same inventory as any other card would help eliminate the scarcity and lack of availability when people really need the cards.
2.      My second interview was for my friend who got a card from his family. The card was an avenger’s valentine’s day card surprisingly, but he found it odd that it felt so childlike. He wondered if they picked out the card just because he likes superheroes without thinking if maybe it wasn’t the most age appropriate choice. Regardless he figured my idea could bring about a happy medium where people can customize the card to be as age appropriate, and theme appropriate with pictures and characters that person would like as well.
3.      The third interview was for my friend who was buying cards for her friends on valentine’s day. She had gone to the store to buy cards but was seeing how each card was a dollar and wondered if the printing kiosk would be cheaper, as she could just look up cards to print on meme pages and print them out of the Reitz basement.
I feel my research found that most people just want a more customizable way to print cards for the ones they care for.

  1. I think your 1st and 3rd interviews provided valuable insight about your company. The 1st interview made you realize that there is a huge advantage of not running out of inventory like stores do because all the cards would be customized and printed out. As for the 3rd interview, i think it shows that the quality of paper you print on is key. I think the reason people don't print out cards is the paper is flimsy and cheap so it would be huge to offer different options of card quality at different price ranges
